Join us Sunday, September 22nd as we celebrate Deaf Culture Awareness Day at the Zoo! This year we will be partnering with the Rochester School for the Deaf and RIT’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf to provide accessible programming.
September 22 is also Elephant Awareness Day.

Meanwhile, our knowledgeable docents will guide you through the striking differences and surprising similarities between Amur and Bengal tigers.

Community Clean-Up - Ontario Beach Park
We have partnered with Farmhouse Table Foods for a new Sustainable Table Dinner on September 25th at 5:30 p.m. here at Seneca Park Zoo!
Celebrate harvest with an evening of seasonal food and an exploration of the way seasons and the effects of climate change impact how humans and animals eat. We’ll begin the evening with informative chats about the way Zoo animals are affected by the seasons when in their natural range, how Seneca Park Zoo provides for these daily needs, and then hear about how seasonality alters how we eat locally.
Farmhouse Table Food will provide a locally sourced four course family style menu with selections for a variety of palates and diets. Your ticket includes your after-hours access to the Zoo, a delicious menu, and a donation to the Zoo Society. Dinner begins at 6pm. Guests must be 21+, cash bar available (omnivore, vegetarian, and gluten-free options available)
For 85$ per person, you’ll be able to enjoy a welcome drink along with the following:
Farmers Market Boards of local cheeses fresh seasonable vegetables, house made hummus and dips and other locally sourced charcuterie.
Appetizers include corn fritters with lime crema, local concord grape and brie tartlet, and watermelon caprese skewers.
Family Style Dinner features salad with roasted vegetables and bread to pass, sides of roasted squash with house ricotta, pomegranate and tahini, pappardelle pasta with roasted tomatoes and corn crema, and confit garlic and herb smashed potatoes.
Protein entrees are shareable and include apple roasted chicken with house chimichurri or brined pork loin over peperonata sauce.
Dessert of assorted cobbler bars, mini whoopie pie and mousse cups.

Community Clean-Up - Durand Eastman Beach
Join us Sunday, September 22nd as we celebrate Deaf Culture Awareness Day at the Zoo! This year we will be partnering with the Rochester School for the Deaf and RIT’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf to provide accessible programming opportunities to the deaf community right here in our local community.
Zoo grounds close at 5 p.m. with last entry at 4 p.m.
Elephant Awareness Day 2024
September 22: Elephant Awareness Day
Get ready to go grey for Elephant Awareness Day at Seneca Park Zoo! Join us in celebrating these gentle giants by wearing your best grey attire as we shine a spotlight on the incredible world of elephants.
A weekend all about elephants! With elephant experiences all day long this is a day you won’t want to miss!
Elephant keepers will be providing special enrichment in the morning followed by a watermelon eating contest between some lucky guests and our elephants. At 2:00 p.m. join our amazing hoofstock team for an elephant keeper chat.
Zoo naturalists will be stationed by the elephant pool, sharing fascinating insights into the unique adaptations that make elephants so remarkable. Learn how their massive ears, trunk, and even their skin play a crucial role in their survival.
Our dedicated docents will be on hand to discuss the vital Elephant Corridor and its significance in preserving elephant populations. Discover how these majestic animals are key players in maintaining the balance of their ecosystems.
End the day with an Elephant Ear fried dough at the Trailside Cafe.
